Real Housewife of Orange County Celebrates St. Patrick's Day at NYC Pub!

Scene Description

The bustling atmosphere of The Wheel Tapper, a lively Irish pub in New York City, is filled with the excited chatter of St. Patrick’s Day enthusiasts. Tamara, a vibrant personality from The Real Housewives of Orange County (RHOC), is experiencing her first Irish pub celebration and is eager to learn how to make a famous Irish drink.

Tamara, with her signature humor and curiosity, engages with the bartender, who possesses a charming Irish accent. She reveals her mixed Irish-German heritage and expresses her enthusiasm for concocting a festive drink that will impress her housewife friends back home.

The bartender begins by introducing the house special – a vibrant green drink known as the “Irish Delight.” Tamara, intrigued by the mix of vodka, Irish whiskey, and a splash of Sprite, playfully comments on how this concoction will surely get her friends “all liquored up.”

With a mischievous smile, Tamara decides to give the Irish Delight a try, noting that it’s 5:00 somewhere. As she cautiously takes a sip, she exclaims about its enticing aroma and playfully admits to being a bit scared. The bartender assures her that it’s the perfect St. Patrick’s Day drink, and Tamara embraces the festive spirit.

Prompted by the bartender’s question about her ideal St. Patrick’s Day, Tamara dreams of celebrating in Ireland, partying with the locals who, according to her, “know how to knock them back.” She reflects on her childhood memories of St. Patrick’s Day, recalling her mom’s tradition of making corned beef and cabbage while her dad enjoyed beer with a touch of green food coloring.

Amid the lively atmosphere, Tamara light-heartedly speculates about which of her fellow housewives would be the wildest on St. Patrick’s Day. She playfully singles out Gretchen as the youngest one still in the party zone, sharing a laugh about her party antics.

As Tamara continues to enjoy her Irish Delight, the scene captures the essence of St. Patrick’s Day revelry at The Wheel Tapper, with Tamara’s infectious energy and humor adding a touch of RHOC flair to the festive celebration.

A Lesson In Irish Cuisine With Fitzpatrick Hotel Chef Jim Donahue

Scene Description

The kitchen of the Fitzpatrick Hotel, bustling with activity as Executive Chef Jim Donnie enthusiastically demonstrates the preparation of a delightful dish just in time for St. Patrick’s Day – the Dublin Prawn with Irish Smoked Salmon.

Chef Jim begins by showcasing the imported Irish smoked salmon, narrating its journey from Ireland to a New York Catskills smokehouse. Describing the intricate brining process with brown sugar, salt, spices, and Irish whiskey, he lays out neatly shingled smoked salmon on plastic for the rolling process.

Skillfully seasoning the salmon with a sprinkle of sea salt, peppercorns, and rich crème fraîche, Chef Jim introduces the star of the dish – Dublin prawns sautéed in butter, flambeed with Jameson whiskey, and infused with fresh tarragon. After chilling the prawns, he demonstrates the meticulous layering, ensuring an abundance of salmon to envelop the prawns in the roll.

As he rolls the salmon, Chef Jim emphasizes the importance of firming it up in the freezer for an hour to maintain its shape. He proudly presents a pre-made roll and proceeds to cut it into three pieces, showcasing the perfectly formed Dublin Prawn.

To complement the dish, Chef Jim prepares the famous Mary Rose sauce, mixing mayonnaise, ketchup, hot sauce, and a touch of Jameson whiskey. With a keen eye, he ensures the sauce achieves the desired pinkish color, adding a tantalizing flavor profile to the ensemble.

Plating the Dublin Prawn, Chef Jim adds a touch of elegance with lemon-flavored olive oil, fresh chives, and violet pearls for an extra burst of flavor. The finishing touch is a sprinkle of microgreens, creating a visually appealing and delicious traditional Dublin Prawn with Irish Smoked Salmon for the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

Chef Jim invites everyone to savor the flavors of this exquisite dish on the festive Saturday, promising a culinary experience that captures the essence of Irish cuisine and St. Patrick’s Day traditions.
